Virginia Tech Shooting

"Bang bang bang!" The Virgnia Tech shooting begins. To some, it is filled with excitement. To others, it is scary. It causes one to cringe in terror and heartbeat to skip a beat. It sends a chill down the spine and causes a knee-wobbling sensation. Some may even take off at a break-neck speed and report to the nearest police station. So dear readers, what will your reaction be?

Or you will scream in terror? Will you take out your gun to shoot the killer back? I will do that. I will shoot him to his die. Serve him right. He should get a revenge for doing something so morally wrong. "Bang bang bang!" right back at him.

It is so unfair to take away so many innocent lives. Why is the guy so childish to kill all because of a girl? So lame. Go back to kindergarden. This is my personal thoughts so i can blog anything i like. I will practise good english some other day. BYE.

Nowadays, the mass media do not report the news; they make the news. Discuss this with references to recent events.

Mass Media is any of the means of communication, as television or newspapers, that reach very large numbers of people. In the world today, the mass media do not report the news, they make the news. In this blog entry, i will like to discuss this issue with references to recent events. According to http://dictionary.com, the word "recent" means not long past. It can be recent years, months or ever weeks. Therefore, i personally feel that articles that were published last year can be used too since it is of recent years.

According to Dasu Krishnamooty, Media Illusions, India Together, June 2004, two lecturers from Bangalore and Pondicherry commented on a report a tabloid did on the suicide of a girl student. They said that except the fact that the girl committed suicide, everything else mentioned in the article were untrue. The mass media these days often make news up.

The recent news of Paul Wolfowitz giving his partner promotion deals shows many layers of fabrication. According to the BBC Radio and http://www.outsidethebeltway.com/archives/2007/04/paul_wolfowitz_world_bank_scandal_/, Wolfowitz's partner was one of the leading executives in the bank. His partner has to move out due to conflict of interest after Wolfowitz entered her branch. She was also fully qualified for the state department job. However, most of the media failed to include this important knowledge in their reports. For example, http://business.timesonline.co.uk/tol/business/industry_sectors/banking_and_finance/article1647370.ece. The mass media have thus distorted the truth of the case.

I feel that the mass media nowadays are too irresponsible. They often add in incorrect information to make the news more money worthy. They do not understand and see the consequences of their actions. The making of news not only sends the public false infomation, it may also tarnish the reputation of one when the news concerns man. Therefore, i strongly feel that something must be done to prevent mass media from making news up.

“YouTube has no ethics, it's been created for the sole purpose of entertainment and money.” Do you agree?

YouTube is a is a popular free video sharing website which allows users upload, view, and share video clips. It is user friendly and allows us to have access of a variety of video clips. It is even named TIME magazine's "Invention of the year for 2006". Despite YouTube's recognisable achievements, several countries like Thailand, Turkey and Iran are banning the site, assuming that it has no ethics and has been created for the sole purpose of entertainment and money. I agree to this sentence to a great extent.

In 2006, YouTube hosted videos like Lazy Sunday and Olympics 2006 and both of this videos were supposed to be copyrighted materials. In February 2006, NBC demanded YouTube to remove these copyrighted materials. Despite have a policy of prohibitting submission of copyrighted content, it was still possible to upload the copyrighted videos onto YouTube. We can obviously infer that YouTube is established for the sole purpose of entertainment and money.

YouTube is stretching the limits of ethical norm. Teasers of George Bush uploaded on YouTube is not only rude, it may also propagate users to dislike George Bush. In Thailand, YouTube was even being banned as it boradcast material critical of the country's king. A video, which is forty-four seconds in length, showed graffiti over the king's face. The video also showed feets being placed over the king's face, which is considered very offensive to the Thais.

Often, videos on YouTube may convey the wrong messages. For example, the health-related videos. Instead of trying to educate the public on various health matters, it ended misleading the public. Ted Gansler, director of medical content at the American Cancer Society, agrees. He says that one clip attributing breast cancer to abortion serves as an example of how online video clips can spread inaccurate information.

YouTube has too many faults even though it has benefited many of its users. Therefore, i strongly feel that Youtube is created for the sole purpose of entertainment and money.

'The teenage years are the best years of one's life'. Would you agree with this view?

Time and tide waits for no man. Although this saying may seem incredibly cliched, this proves to be the most truthful statement of all. Man are often engaged in the never ending chase for time. Many have wasted their youth away during their teenage years and only to regret after it has been a forgone conclusion. i agree that the tennage years are the best years of one's life.

Tennagers are generally full of vitality and energy. This advantage allows them to conquer the world literally, experience new insights, gain wisdom and acquire knowledge. Teenagers can also challenge themselves to practise extreme physical sports like mountain climbing. Often free from financial burdens, nothing pulls them back from pursuing academic excellence and various desires.

However, many teenagers misintepret the meanings of life. They do not have indivisuality due to the lack of knowledege and wisdom to proceed with logical thinking. Some teenagers do not have their parents to guide them along this couse of life. Therefore, these teenagers begin to assume that the teenage years are the worst years of their lives.

According to the Strait Times Interactive, tetrahydropregnanalone(THP) which calms adults and young children, actually works in reverse with pubscents. THP makes teenagers moody and defiant. Some teenagers also feel apart from their peers because of looks, grades or achievement injustice. They are tempted to see how far they can push the status quo.

The statistics in Straits Times Interative shows that most of the angst-filled teenagers come from stable homes where their parents are professionals. They are lack of love from their busy parents and urgently wants to seek the attention of their parents.

Therefore, many teenagers began to worship metal bands like Atreyu, Cradle of Filth and Bleeding Through and resort to foolish acts like self -mutilation. Many teenagers start to believe that the slitting of wrist and writting poems glorifying their suicide attempts can show their support for emo bands and even be as cool as these bands. This wrong perception is due to the satanic appearance and angst-filled lyrics of metal bands.

In conclusion, I strongly feel that teenage years are still nevertheless the best years of one's life. With extra guidance and stricter censorship of metal bands, I believe that the true beauty of teenage years will soon dawn upon the youths in today's society.
